9 miles on the Mesabi Trail...... followed by a loop on the Legion Trails in Grand Rapids, Mn.
Not bad for the last really nice day of September!!

What: Grand Rapids Itasca Mountain Bicycling Association Maintenance Day

When: Saturday May 31st 2014 10am -4pm

Where: Legion Mountain Bike Trail System (Behind the ReifCenter and High School in Grand Rapids, MN)

 

Food will be provided and prepared by 3pm (BBQ Hot Dogs, Chips, and Veggies)

Bring water, a mountain bike, and snack for the trail

I.R.O.C.'s 1st 2014 Meeting

Was very well attended..... 35-45 guys, maybe more....filled the lunch area deep inside the Mn. Discovery Center. There were people from Grand Rapids to Ely in attendance. That covers all of the Iron Range!! 

Hopefully with the momentum of this meeting, the wheels keep rolling toward new trails in the northland!!

Goals, vision and future club plans were shared. 

Then Hansi Johnson got up and did his thing. Lots of numbers....... Examples of how other clubs are doing things throughout the Midwest. GRIMBA, Copper Harbor, Cuyuna, and COGGS were a few examples. 

Good info for sure!

Thanks goes to Hansi for giving us his time and knowledge!! 

Also thanks to Pete and Luther for putting together an A+ kickoff to 2014!!!!

"2nd Annual Naughty Ride"

Our brothers and sisters to our west..
GRIMBA are having their 2nd running of the "NAUGHTY RIDE"
When..... Nov. 10th
Where.... The Legion Trail System in Grand Rapids DUH!!
Trailhead is mere yards from the Grand Rapids High School, and or the Reif Center.
Time...... 1:00 p.m.
Who....... Got a bike; then bring it!! It sounds like it'll be a hoot!! The trail has a sweet buttery flow; and I guarantee you'll love "the plantation!!"
Eats and drinks afterwards will be @ 

The Mexican Restaurant.

Can you say a Near Miss???

Oh SHIT SHIT was crossing my mind!! 

She made it just fine, giggling all the way!!

For her 1st time on single track, she killed it!! Especially on "The Plantation" portion of the Legion Trails in Grand Rapids, Mn. Even Zack proclaimed "Jenna you're rocking this section!!"

Then she got tired towards the midway point, and the proverbial wheels feel off. 

Then it was "Daddy I've had enough!!"

So we ditched to the ski trails, and meet Mom in the parking lot!! 

I've got plenty more pictures on the camera, which I'll get to at a later date.

Z didn't want anything to do with it..... at 1st, but that soon changed in a matter of minutes!!

Grand Rapids SingleTrack......

Monday Zack and i headed over to Grand Rapids, Mn. right after work, to ride their new singletrack, built by the Grand Rapids chapter of MORC.
Zack's first real taste of true free flowing singletrack, and boy did he have a good time!!!
i think they have around 5-7 miles built, not sure about that number, but Z made it 4.35 miles and he had enough, and we bailed out to the ski trail, and then back to the parking lot. at 1st he got freaked out and kept yelling at me to wait up. LOL
i couldn't explain to him that i wasn't really that far ahead of him. then we came to the pine plantation part of this trail, and i got a chance to show him what i was talking about. with the wide open pine forest he could see i was really not that far ahead of him. i could almost see that light bulb go on above his head!!! LOL
I'm PROUD of you Zack!!! GREAT JOB PAL!!!

i took some pictures, but we were having a great time, and neither one of us wanted to stop for long???!! next time i hit up this trail i'll take more.

anyway a big kudos has to go out to Marlo, Wally and all the Grand Rapids gang that is working on this trail.... GREAT JOB!!!!!
